This defeat ended the points hopes of making the semi finals. QPS had the first chance after 3 minutes when Anthony Mc Colgan headed just wide from a Michael Nicholas corner. Du Pont’s replied when Connor Lynch picked out Declan Curtis on the edge of the area who turned sharply and put in a shot that J P Mc Colgan gathered in the Swifts goal. On 12 minutes Terry Mc Colgan headed a Christy Harkin free wide of the post, before Du Pont’s D J Canavan tried his luck from 25 yards but his effort was well held by Mc Colgan. Du Pont took the lead midway through the half when Barry Gormley picked out Chris Mc Gill who advanced into the area and drilled a low shot from sixteen yards to the corner of the net past Mc Colgan. On the half hour Terry Mc Colgan advanced into the box but his shot from a tight angle hit the side netting, The Swifts were out of luck when Colm Mc Laughlin’s header from a Michael Mc Colgan corner was cleared off the line before on the stroke of half time Mc Laughlin’s free from 22 yards shaved the crossbar. Five minutes into the second period Terry Mc Colgan headed wide from a Raymond Buchanan free when well placed. Du Pont responded and increased their lead after 65 minutes when a Blain Curtis header from Mc Gill’s corner was brilliantly turned around the post by J P Mc Colgan but from the resulting corner taken by Mc Gill Michael Porter flicked a near post header past Mc Colgan. On 75 minutes Raymond Buchanan’s effort from 30 yards had McGilloway in the Du Pont Goal scrambling to turn it around the post, and Du Pont had the last chance when Mc Gill’s corner was headed out by Oisin Colgan to Blane Curtis but he volleyed over the bar from 18 yards.
QPS 1 Aileach 3
Aileach took the spoils in this North West Champions League game played at Rasheney QPS had the first chance of the game on 15 minutes when Michael Nicholas floated in a corner which was headed clear by a defender, then Anto Mc Colgan fired in a shot from 18 yards that was held by Ciaran Gallagher in the Aileach net, On 18 minutes Anthony Doherty tried his luck for Aileach from the edge of the box, but JP Mc Colgan saved well, 2 minuets later the point had a let off when Anthony Doherty got on the end of a Ciaran Craig left wing cross but his header hit the bar and went over, Raymond Buchanan with a 25 yard free kick which was held by keeper Gallagher on 25 minutes and a Kevin Wallace header which went over the bar on 29 minutes came close for the swifts, on 36 minutes Liam Burke’s goal bound shot was cleared off the line by Oisin Mc Colgan, Aileach kept pressing and Burke had a chance after being set up by Ciaran Craig but JP Mc Colgan in the swifts goal made a good save, Craig shot over the bar on the stroke of half time as Aileach finished the half strongly, after 60 min Raymond Buchanan headed Michael Nicholas corner over the bar at the near post, on 61 minutes Raymond Buchanan’s corner was met by the head of Oisin Mc Colgan and the effort was cleared off the line, Then Aileach’s Sean Mc Kinney tried his luck with an effort from distance which Mc Colgan dealt with, the deadlock was broken on 64 minutes when Buchanan’s free into the box was fumbled by the keeper under pressure and Kevin Wallace stabbed home from close range, Aileach were level 5 minutes later when Craig floated a free into the swifts box and Cathal McElhinney headed home from 10 yards, Aileach had another chance on 75 minutes when Anthony Doherty broke through the swifts rearguard bur Mc Colgan was quickly out to block, Aileach took the lead on the stroke of full time when Anthony Doherty sprung the offside trap and slotted home, Kevin Wallace got a second yellow for his protestation’s at this decision and was duly sent off, Dean Barron with a volley for the swifts which went narrowly wide came close for the swifts, Aileach sealed it in stoppage time when Substitute Dermot Mc Glynn headed home from 10 yards to seal victory for the Burnfoot men.

Brandywell created the first chance after 3 minutes Ryan Mc Bride heading a Oran Murphy corner just wide, on 5 minutes Liam Mc Guinness had a twenty yard effort which JP Mc Colgan gathered well low to his left, after 9 minutes the point’s Adam Harkin picket out Tommy Mc Laughlin his shot rebounded to Michael Mc Colgan who dragged his effort wide, a brilliant run by Garry Collett after 20 minutes down the right he picked out Liam Mc Guinness who’s goal bound shot was turned around the post by Mc Colgan, the point replied when Adam Harkin fed Raymond Buchanan on the left his deep cross fell to Sean Mc Laughlin but from 12 yards he miss hit his shot, Mc Guinness then brought another fine save from Mc Colgan with a header from Sam Robinson throw in, then Ryan Mc Bride saw his header from a Mark Mc Laughlin corner deflected wide by a defender, Brandywell took the lead after 40 minuites when Robinson’s effort from 35 yards came off the angle of the post and in off the back of keeper Mc Colgan, Brandywell started the second half as they finished the first with a great run by Collett who picked out Mc Guinness he squared for Mark Mc Laughlin who shot over when well placed, then James Melly shot over from a Bobby Coyle free, QPS brought on Terry Mc Colgan and Michael Nicholas up front and started to put some pressure on the Brandywell defence, after 65 minutes Raymond Buchanan’s free rebounded to Colm Mc Laughlin and his shot from 20 yards went narrowly wide, on 70 minutes a Oisin Mc Colgan free found Terry Mc Colgan but his header was straight at keeper Garry Doherty, the point drew level after 84 minutes when they won a corner on the right Raymond Buchanan picked out Kevin Wallace his header was goal bound until Bobby Coyle handled on the line, Coyle was red carded and Buchanan’s spot kick sent Doherty the wrong way, The point had two chances to win the game in injury time the first from Anthony Mc Colgan who shot wide and then Terry McColgan’s header was turned around the post by keeper Doherty.
