QPS -v- Moville

               3-1

In the first half the Point had strong possession; there were a few good runs from the O’Donnell sisters with Anne putting it over the top for Kathleen’s strike to hit the cross bar, this was followed by a scramble in the Moville box only to be cleared by Clare Doherty.  Moville made an excellent brake when Marie Kelly ran the length only to be cleanly and swiftly tackled by Angela McCallion.  Moville again made an attempt on goal when Marissa McGettigan crossed the ball to Marie Kelly however this was well covered by Jessica Doyle who made a diving save.  Helena Gillen and Katie Norris for Moville showed good team-man ship when they partnered up to run the line however their attempt was shot wide.  A Cross to Moville into the Point box led to a scramble on the line giving Moville their lead of the game just before half time.  Into the second half the point equalised with a superb corner from Kathleen O’Donnell find Denise Donaghey and she managed to put home the first of the Points goals.  With spirits raised a few minutes later an excellent cross from Jessie to Kathleen saw the ball go into the back of the Moville net for the second time giving the Point the lead.  Moville rose to fight well and had a few excellent runs from Katie Norris and Marie Kelly however just couldn’t find the equaliser.  15 minutes before the end of the game some excellent footwork from Marie and Katie saw them beat the Point defence and shoot on target however a diving save from Maria McColgan prevented the ball from meeting the back of the net.  The Point again began the attack and Jessica Doyle had a couple of excellent shots just going wide of the post however she successfully crossed the ball to Clara Moyne who drove it into the back of the net making the end result 3-1 to the Point.  Excellent displays of football were from the Point’s Jessica Doyle and Moville’s Marie Kelly.
